Dr. Jeffrey Perlmutter

Dr. Jeffrey Perlmutter is one of NAMC's founding physicians. Read his biography below.

Dr. Jeffrey Perlmutter was born in New York City and grew up on Long Island. He received his medical degree from Columbia University in 1983. Dr. Perlmutter did his internal medicine training at George Washington University and his nephrology fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania. After fellowship, he served on the faculty of the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. He joined Nephrology Associates in 1995. Dr. Perlmutter is board-certified in Internal Medicine and Nephrology.

In addition to clinical practice, Dr. Perlmutter is the Medical Director of Dialysis Services at Holy Cross Hospital and the Medical Director for DaVita Silver Spring dialysis center.  He holds a voluntary appointment at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Maryland where he teaches first and second year medical students. Dr. Perlmutter serves on the Medical Review Board and as Chairman of the Vascular Access Committee for the Mid-Atlantic Renal Coalition. Also, he is vice-chairman of the Clinical Practice Committee of the Renal Physicians Association.

In the community, Dr. Perlmutter has been an active member of The National Kidney Foundation serving the National Capital Area since 1995. He has chaired many committees and in 2007-08 served as Chairman of the Board. He remains an active member of the Board of Directors. This year, Dr. Perlmutter became a member of the Board of Directors of Congregation B’nai Tzedek and serves as the chairman of its Ritual Committee.

Dr. Perlmutter has been practicing for 22 years.  He is married with two children.
